It's over. I finished the book and in the end it said that Rodger Chillingworth left most of his possessions for young Pearl who would have been around 15 when he died. The weird thing is that she was not blood related to him at all!
I think that Rodger did this because he felt that helping Pearl was like helping Hester. Through out the book Rodger is always helping Hester even though she cheated on him. When Hester and Mr. Dimmsdale decide to sail to Europe, somehow he finds out and decides to come with them because he can't bare to loose Hester.

The Scarlet Letter Journal Entry #6
The Governor has died. Hester was just at his house trying to ease him of his pain but now he has died. :(
I think that the governor died because of the plant that Rodger Chillingworth gave to him. I think this because Rodger just got the plant from an old grave. He even tells the governor that but the governor was too loopy to realize what was happening. I hate Rodger Chillingworth now!

The Scarlet Letter Journal Entry #5
Roger Chillingworth is operating on the governor and he's using a plant that he got from a grave in the cemetery. He has no idea what plant it is but yet he's willing to use it on the governor!
I think that he isn't really a doctor. I think this because even a doctor from old times knows to only use the plants that you know! Why would he go to the cemetery , Find a random plant and test it on the governor? That just seems stupid to me!

The Scarlet Letter Journal Entry #4
Pearl is now seven and she is starting to ask many questios about the scarlet letter and her mother, Hester isn't telling Pearl anything and Pearl doesn't like it.
I think that this puts Pearl in a very bad situation. She's at the age where she wants answers and now she's not getting them. I can totlly imagine what that would be like. I almost want her to go with the governer but at the same time I don't because that would be unfair to Hester. I don't know which side to choose!

The Scarlet Letter Journal Entry #3
In my book now Pearl is growing up. She is now three years old. When Pearl was young Hester tried to get her to behave by smiling or frowning. It didn't work so Hester decided to let Pearl learn from her own experiences. When Pearl and Hester go to the Mayor's they ran into a bunch of kids about Pearl's age. The kids see the Scarlet letter and they start to fling mud at Hester and Pearl. Pearl starts to beat them up. Heres the best part, Hester doesn't do anything about it!
When I read that I laughed out loud. I thought that that was hilarious! I think that Hester definitely should have done something about it. That is totally bad parenting and you should always scold your kid if they beat someone up. That's kinda a no brainer!

The Scarlet Letter Journal Entry #2
Pearl. That's what Hester names her child. Hester names her child this because Pearl is very pearls are worth a lot of money and Pearl is worth a lot to Hester.
I think that this is pretty much the same as naming your kid Snowflake. I think this because if you think that your kid is unique, you could name it Snowflake. Or if you think that your kid has a face that looks like a mouse you could name your kid Mouse or Sir Cheesealot. The point that I'm trying to say here is that i think that it is a stupid name!

The Scarlet Letter Journal Entry #1
So far in my book Hester Pryne is standing on the scaffold in the market place. She has a scarlet "A" on her dress. She also is holding what sounds like a baby about 2-4 weeks old. A preist explained to a man in the crowd that the "A" stands for adultery and that now Hester will wear the "A" for the rest of her life.
The story takes place in Boston. I've been to Boston so I know that it is a very busy shipping city. It sits right on the Boston Harbor for crying out loud! I think that its very funny that all of those people would take the time out of their lives to watch Hester be humilliatd. It was as if the world stopped to laugh at Hester and she didn't even seem to care the slightest bit! I find that very funny!
