It's over. I finished the book and in the end it said that Rodger Chillingworth left most of his possessions for young Pearl who would have been around 15 when he died. The weird thing is that she was not blood related to him at all!
I think that Rodger did this because he felt that helping Pearl was like helping Hester. Through out the book Rodger is always helping Hester even though she cheated on him. When Hester and Mr. Dimmsdale decide to sail to Europe, somehow he finds out and decides to come with them because he can't bare to loose Hester.

The Scarlet Letter Journal Entry #6
The Governor has died. Hester was just at his house trying to ease him of his pain but now he has died. :(
I think that the governor died because of the plant that Rodger Chillingworth gave to him. I think this because Rodger just got the plant from an old grave. He even tells the governor that but the governor was too loopy to realize what was happening. I hate Rodger Chillingworth now!

Roger Chillingworth is operating on the governor and he's using a plant that he got from a grave in the cemetery. He has no idea what plant it is but yet he's willing to use it on the governor!
I think that he isn't really a doctor. I think this because even a doctor from old times knows to only use the plants that you know! Why would he go to the cemetery , Find a random plant and test it on the governor? That just seems stupid to me!

The Scarlet Letter Journal Entry #4
Pearl is now seven and she is starting to ask many questios about the scarlet letter and her mother, Hester isn't telling Pearl anything and Pearl doesn't like it.
I think that this puts Pearl in a very bad situation. She's at the age where she wants answers and now she's not getting them. I can totlly imagine what that would be like. I almost want her to go with the governer but at the same time I don't because that would be unfair to Hester. I don't know which side to choose!

The Scarlet Letter Journal Entry #3
In my book now Pearl is growing up. She is now three years old. When Pearl was young Hester tried to get her to behave by smiling or frowning. It didn't work so Hester decided to let Pearl learn from her own experiences. When Pearl and Hester go to the Mayor's they ran into a bunch of kids about Pearl's age. The kids see the Scarlet letter and they start to fling mud at Hester and Pearl. Pearl starts to beat them up. Heres the best part, Hester doesn't do anything about it!
When I read that I laughed out loud. I thought that that was hilarious! I think that Hester definitely should have done something about it. That is totally bad parenting and you should always scold your kid if they beat someone up. That's kinda a no brainer!

The Scarlet Letter Journal Entry #2
Pearl. That's what Hester names her child. Hester names her child this because Pearl is very pearls are worth a lot of money and Pearl is worth a lot to Hester.
I think that this is pretty much the same as naming your kid Snowflake. I think this because if you think that your kid is unique, you could name it Snowflake. Or if you think that your kid has a face that looks like a mouse you could name your kid Mouse or Sir Cheesealot. The point that I'm trying to say here is that i think that it is a stupid name!

The Scarlet Letter Journal Entry #1
So far in my book Hester Pryne is standing on the scaffold in the market place. She has a scarlet "A" on her dress. She also is holding what sounds like a baby about 2-4 weeks old. A preist explained to a man in the crowd that the "A" stands for adultery and that now Hester will wear the "A" for the rest of her life.
The story takes place in Boston. I've been to Boston so I know that it is a very busy shipping city. It sits right on the Boston Harbor for crying out loud! I think that its very funny that all of those people would take the time out of their lives to watch Hester be humilliatd. It was as if the world stopped to laugh at Hester and she didn't even seem to care the slightest bit! I find that very funny!

The Tale of the Four Happy Sprites and How They Changed the Once Boring Land into the Ever Changing World in Which We Live In Today
There once were four sprites. They were all female and they were all best freinds. The first one was named Springafora. She was by far the prettiest of the four and wanted all things beautiful. Sumrina loved water and the ocean. (She was sometimes considered the girl Posiden.) Autumerata was very fond of eating. She would spent all day searching for the perfect apple, for this was her favorite food. Winteramadus was the coldest of the four and she could only find joy in her sisters or in Changeitrust, and that's where our story begins.
The four sprites lived on an island near Tuvalu wear they lived happy and undisturbed. The island was covered in magenta roses and lala palm trees. In the very center was the four sprites' castle given to them by their father. The castle was decorated by Monicanica, the goddess of inteior design. (Monicanica is not in most myths because she didn't live on Mt. Olympus, but she was the one who decorated the palace on Mt. Olympus as well as many others.) One day a dashing young man by the name of Changeitrust got washed up on the shores of the beautiful island.
The four sprites immediately went about caring for him, for he was very sick after being tossed around in the ocean. Once he gained consciousness he immediately fell in love with Springafora because she was the most beautiful. However the other three sprites had fallen in love with Changeitrust too. Now Changitrust had a choice to make. He couldn't decide! The reasonable thing to do would be to build a boat and sail off of the island and never look back until he couldn't see the island and then he would look back and think "WHAT AM I DOING?" but by then it would be too late to turn back. No. He couldn't do that because then he would never again see his beautiful Springafora. He also didn't want to break the other sprite's hearts or break the law so he went to Zeus. Zeus told Changeatrust to come back in one fortnight for that's when he would have come to a conclusion.
When Changeatrust went to Zeus after two weeks of constant sweating and intense nail-biting, Zeus told Changatrust to go back to the sprites and live with each of them for three months each year. Changatrust loved this idea and he set off at once feeling very stupid for not thinking of this himself. However, once Changatrust got to the beautiful island he found not one large island but four smaller islands. He immedeately knew which one was Springafora's and went to spend his first three months with her. Her island was covered with new-born flowers and young animals. Sumrina's was hot and sandy. Autumerata's had growing apple orcherds and pumpkins with Changatrust's face carved into them in the hopes that he would choose to marry her. Winteramadus's island was shocking to Changatrust because it was covered in snow! As Changatrust went from island to island he noticed that all around him the whole world was changing with him. This is how we get the changing of the seasons.

Medusa
Medusa is a creature from Greek mythology. The word Medusa means “sovereign female wisdom”. Medusa was once a nice, beautiful, harmless girl who lived in the north. Medusa was the daughter of Phorkys and Keto and she was the only mortal of the three Gorgons. One day she went to a temple to worship that belonged to the godess Athena. Once Athena found out about this she was furious! She cursed Medusa forever and turned her hair into snakes. Also whoever looked directly at her would be turned to stone.
On Athena's orders Perseus was sent to the island of Cisthene to decapitate Medusa. In order to not be turned to stone he only looked at her through his polished sheild. After he successfully decapitated her her head fell onto the Libyan desert. Drops of blood turned into snakes. Pegasus sprung from her head. After she was decapitated her head could still turn people to stone! That is why Athena put a carving of Medusa's head on her sheild.
That was my report! Did you learn anything new?
